Two Artists Represented
Description of Artwork: These two mixed-media works of acrylic paint and varnish on archival digital prints are contemporary in nature yet contain many historical references to art, including neo-classicism, art nouveau, constructivism, cubism and pop-art. The artist states, "the concepts for these designs recognize the unique qualities of the region of west central Florida (clouds, water, maps and nautical charts of Pinellas County), combined with the presence of the courthouse as a symbol of justice and the rule of law (represented by a classical Graeco-Roman temple, a Corinthian column, law books, a pyramid and compass)."

Description of Artwork: These paintings represent "portraits" of four famous, very old champion trees from the Pinellas County area. Artist Anders Knutsson said the idea was, "to bring strong, grounding imagery into an environment, where in some cases, insecurity and fear may be present; in other words, to let art add emotional support and meaning to our own human values. As symbols, the trees represent wisdom and strength." These landmark trees include the Camphor, Gumbo Limbo, and Live Oak, all prevalent in Florida.
