American Stage/MoonlightThe Creative Industries
in Pinellas County: 2009 Report

The Creative Industries report offers a research-based approach to understanding the scope and economic importance of the arts in Pinellas County. The recent data figures were compiled by Dunn & Bradstreet for Americans for the Arts. Nationally, there are 686,076 businesses involved in the creation or distribution of the arts that employ 2.8 million people, representing 4.2% of all businesses and 2.04% of all employees. In comparison, as of January 2009, Pinellas County is home to 2,548 arts-related businesses that employ 10,989 people. These arts-centric businesses play an important role in building and sustaining economic vibrancy. See the full report

Workplace Giving Program Funds 2008 Arts Education Programs
Through the Workplace Giving Program at The St. Petersburg Times, twenty arts education and outreach projects throughout the county are supported, enhanced and expanded. The financial donations derived through the generosity of over seventy employees of the Times, with matching dollars provided by the St. Petersburg Times Fund, Inc., and the Pinellas County Cultural Council, provide grants for arts and cultural organizations. more
